My Buddy Doll

                                         "JMSQ "Copyright © 2012

{This "lil boy doll" is in honor of our oldest son Ronnie}.
When he was a boy he asked for a my buddy doll that had come out
(Hasboro made this doll in 1985). It was awesome and just what boys
that age needed was a close friend who they could trust and talk to
and not get them into trouble. SO, In honor of all the boys in this

FACE:
NOW is the best time to add face. I flattened my head so where I did "sl st" is
center back
With black yarn I made X's for eyes on row 8...  [Secure ends of yarn]
With red yarn I did a slant for corner of mouth on row 12,
then 3 streight lines for mouth on row 13, then another slant
on row 12 [secure ends of yarn]

Shirt:
join yarn with sl st in 2nd ch to the right from finish off point,
Row 1: ch 1, 1 sc in next 5 sts, [shell st, 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in next st, 1 sc in
next 2 sts, [shell 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in next st, 1 sc in ext 5 sts (front of shirt),
[shell 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts, [shell 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc],
in next st, join

Row's 2-7: ch 1, *1 sc in each st, "SHELL in center of Shell" *Repeat around.

Row 8: ch 1, 1 sc in each st to 1st shell, with hook in hand 1 sc in center of
both this shell and next shell together (Arm hole made), 1 sc in each st to
next shell st, 1 sc in center of both shells together, (arm hole made), 1 sc
to beginning , join

Row's 9-16: ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join

ARMS:  Join yarn, with sl st,
Row's 1-9: ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join.. Fasten off after row 12,
Hold both pieces together and sl st closed
Repeat for other arm

*** Stuff head firmly but not to firm, and stuff both arms while bottom
of doll is still open

LEGS:
***You should have 36-40 sts now, if you have 40 sts, then do 1 sc in 10
instead of 9, then work along opposite side for leg opening...

Row 1: Join yarn at front "side" of doll, ch 1, 1 sc in 9 sts, turn and do 9 sc
up back side of body, join (leg hole) (18 sts) - (20 sts)

Row's 2-12: ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join, Fasten off after row 12
Repeat for other leg.

Stuff body & legs, fold leg opening together and sl st closed, tuck in tails

HAT: {Red Beret Hat}
**As memory reminds me, I believe Ronnie's Buddy had a red
baseball cap, I'll make up a cute red hat for this doll.. If you choose
to use one, you might want to stitch it on the head to keep it from being lost

ch 4, join to form ring
Row 1: ch 2, 10 dc in ring, join (10 sts)
Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join (20 sts)

  2. Now I know what your 'disappointed' post was about. Sorry I didn't see this until today and I totally know what you mean about commenting not counting as much as it would've before you mentioned it. :( He's cute and perfect for the girl doll too.
