Angel Prayer Cloth

                                                 {Janell's Angel Pattern}
I use this pattern when making children Prayer Cloths, they work up wonderfully and the kiddo's love them

G hook

Instructions:

(Head)
Row 1: Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Row 2: Ch 1(counts as first sc), work 11 sc in ring, join with sl st to first st. (12 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1; sc in same stitch, 2 sc in remaining stitches. (24 sc).
Row 4: Ch 1 (counts as first st), sc in next 9 sc, (ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next st) 7 times; sl st into first st.
(Wings)
Work in back loops only for rows 5 to 8.
Row 5: Ch 1(counts as first st), sc in next sc, (3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) twice; 3 sc in next sc (3 sc group made); 2 sc in next sc. Ch 1, turn. (17 sts)
Row 6: (Chain 1 counts as first st) Sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc group in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc group in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc group in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. (23 sc)
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each sc across working a 3sc group in center sc of each 3sc group. (29 sc), turn.
Row 8: Ch 2 (first hdc made); hdc in next 4 sc, 3hdc group in next sc, hdc in next 8 sc, 3hdc group in next sc, hdc in next 8 sc; 3hdc group in next sc, hdc in last 5 sc. Fasten off.

Body
Work in both loops from now on.
Row 9: Join yarn in 6th st from center 3hdc group. Ch 2 (first hdc made), hdc in next 6 hdc, 3hdc group in next hdc, hdc in next 7 hdc. Ch 2, turn.
Row 10: With ch 2 counting as first hdc; hdc across to center of 3hdc group, 3 hdc group in center hdc, hdc to end of row, ch 2 turn. (19hdc)
Rows 11 to 18: Repeat row 10. (At end of row 18 you`ll have 35 hdc)
Row 19: Ch 1, turn. Sc in same st, (ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st) 8 times. Sc-ch2-sc in center hdc, (ch3, skip next st, sc in next st) 8 times, sc in last st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

  1. these are beautiful. i've been looking for something to send to the familes and fellow students of the Conn. shootings, and I believe this is what i will make, as well as children in my own area for the needy kids. I make scarves and hats and warm clothing for the needy kids here, and these will be a wonderful thing for them to have as their own as well. thank you!
