Hugs & Kiss'es Baby Set

                     {Created in Honor of our Granddaughter Samantha}

SPECIAL STITCH's:
X Stitch
ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, *{go around back of st just made & into the front of prev. st} 1 dc in back & into prev. st.
Front post and Back post
Appearance in pattern - fp(st) or bp(st)
The (st) denotes whatever stitch you are supposed to make around the post such as fpdc would mean double crochet around the front of the post.

FPHDC:Yo, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of next st, yo and draw yarn through, yo and complete hdc.

BPHDC:Yo, reaching over top of piece and working on opposite side (right side) of work, insert hook from right to left around vertical post of next st, yo and draw yarn through, yo and complete hdc.

Materials Needed:
H hook

Row 1: ch 71, 1 dc in 2nd st from hook, and in each st across

Row 2: sk first st, 1 dc in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, *{go around back of st just made & into the front of prev. st} 1 dc in back & into prev. st.(X stitch made). *Repeat 21 times, 1 dc in last 2 sts, ch 3 turn

Row 3: skip first st, 1 dc in each stitch across including ch 1 spaces, ch 3 turn

Repeat Row's - 2 & 3 for a total of 34 rows- DO NOT FINISH OFF, at end of row 34,

Row 35: ch 1, 2 sc in each corner, 1 sc in each st around blanket, join. {SHELL BORDER:}
Row 36: ch 3, 4 dc in same st, *skip 1 st, sl st into next st, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, *around, join, FINISH OFF TUCK IN TAILS
{HAT}
Preemie size F or G Hook
Newborn size G or H Hook

Preemie Hat:
Ch 4, sl st into 1st ch to form a ring, ch 3 (ch 3 does NOT count as dc)

Rnd 1: Make 12 dc in ring, join with sl st into top of first dc. (total 13 dc)

Rnd 2: 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around and join with sl st. (25 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc into next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * around and join with sl st.

*For NEWBORN size, continue with pattern below:
Rnd 4 (Preemie size,) dc in each st and join with sl st.

Rnd 5-7 Repeat rnd 4. (DO NOT FASTEN OFF after row 8)

Row 8:ch 4, sk 2 sts, X st around *{X Stitch- ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, *{go around back of st just made & into the front of prev. st} 1 dc in back & into prev. st.}, join

Row 9: 1 Dc in each st around, including all ch 1 spaces. Join, ch 3

Row 10: 1 FPDC, in first st, 1 BPDC in next st around. Join & finish off

*FOR NEWBORN SIZE:
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc into next st, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts. Repeat from * around and join with sl st.
Rnd 5: Dc in each st and join with sl st.

Rnd 6-9: Repeat rnd 5 of Newborn size pattern.

Row 10:ch 4, sk 2 sts, X st around *{X Stitch- ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, *{go around back of st just made & into the front of prev. st} 1 dc in back & into prev. st.}, join

Row 11: 1 hdc in each st around, including all ch 1 spaces. Join, ch 3

Row 12: 1 FPHDC, in first st, 1 BPHDC in next st around. Join & finish off
