This is also a great pattern to use for making simple place settings for your dinning table.10 rows is all you need, you can make a shell border if you want or leave it as is.. Get creative and enjoy

Foundation: Ch 16 loosely
Row 1:
* (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2,3 dc, ch 1) in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 ch count as 1st dc), skip next 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, 3 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, **(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) [in LAST Ch], skip next 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, Join with a Sl ST in top of ch 3.
Row 2:
{*Beginning Corner Square} sl st in next 2 sts and [into ch 2 space], (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1), 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, in next corner, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) [Three Times], ** [Corner St - 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1] in first ch 2 space, now repeat in next corner; 3 dc in next ch 1 space,[three times], Join with a SL ST in top of ch 3
Row 3
{*Beginning Corner Square} sl st in next 2 sts and [into ch 2 space], (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1), 3 dc, ch 1 in each ch-1 sp, **(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) in each corner, ( 3 dc, ch 1 in each ch-1 sp)
Repeat Row 3 until your lapghan/afghan is as big as you want it.
