Gnome Keyring -or- Nacklace

                                   "JMSQ "Copyright © 2013-2014
                                {Measure's between 3 1/4" - 3 1/2"}

 COLOR A - Red for male gnomes, any color for girls
 COLOR B - white / flesh yarn
 COLOR C - Blue is traditional for gnomes, but any color
           will do
 ~~~~~~~~~~

You will need a keyring & a small metal ring.

 F Hook
 Gnome HAT:
Attach color A (Hat color)


Row 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, BEFORE you join slip your
hook through small metal ring, NOW join with slip st pulling yarn
through metal ring as if it were also part of your st.  & ch 1
(6 sts Plus 1 small metal ring pushed forward)

NOW PRETEND METAL RING ISN'T THERE AND FINIAH GNOME PATTERN AS WRITTEN:


 Row 2: 1 sc in each st around, join, ch 1 (6 sts)

Row 3: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in next
        st, 2 sc in next st, *repeat around, join, ch 1 (9 sts)

 Row 4: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each st, join (9 sts)

 Row 5: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next
        st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,
        *Repeat around, join, ch 1 (12 sts)
 Row 6:  1 sc in ch 1 space, ! sc in each st around,

               *CHANGE TO COLOR B

 Gnome FACE:
 Attach color B (face color)

Row 7: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,
        * 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, *repeat around,
        join, ch 1 (15 sts)

 Row 8: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each st around, join, ch 1 (15 sts)

Row 9:  1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,
        * 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, *repeat around,
        join, ch 1 (18 sts)

 Row 10: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each st around, join, (18 sts)
         CHANGE TO COLOR C

 *this is the best time to add your eyes, unless your gluing them on*

 Gnome Bottom:
 Attach color C (body color)
 Row 11:  1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st,
        * 1 sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, *repeat around,
        join, ch 1 (21 sts)

 Row 12: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in each st around, join, ch 1 (21 sts)

 Row 13:  Repeat row 12

        ~BEGIN DECREASE~  = 1 sc in 2 tog.

ROW 14: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in 2tog. * 1 sc in each
            of next 2 sts,  1 sc in 2 tog (dec) *Repeat around

 Row 15: Repeat row 14

 ~STUFF FIRMLY~

 Row 16: 1 sc in ch 1 space, 1 sc in next 2tog, *1 sc in next st, 1 sc in
                2 tog. *Repeat around, join with sl st, leave long tail to close.

 FINISH OFF, WITH DARNING NEEDLE FINISH CLOSING

 Beard: Cut 4 -  6" strands of white yarn, following photo,
        a1ttach beard yarn (like you would fringe) between rows
        7 & 8. slowly un-twist yarn, now you have 4 single curly
        yarns that create a natural looking beard.. enjoy


Now that your gnome is completed you can attach keyring to small
metal ring and enjoy your gnome keyring 24/7

You can also attach to your favorite chain and wear as a necklace,
~OR~ you can add a safty pin and wear as your favorite broth.
