One 4 oz skein of 4 ply worsted weight yarn
size 10 and 13 knitting needles (circular or straight)
Divide skein into 2 equal balls
Using 2 strands, cast on 60 stitches on size 10 needles
k2, p2 for 2"
change to 13" and knit every row until piece measures 10-1/2"
Do not Bind Off, cut the yarn leaving a 24" or more tail, then using a tapestry needle pick up every stitch onto the tail and pull tight and sew a few stitches to close up the "hole and secure top.
Using the remaining tail, sew the seam closed. You can add a pompom to the top or leave plain.
Mixing two different colors of yarn, jazz it up.
It's a nice warm hat for those who spend a lot of time outside, they can pull it down over ears, or leave it as a beret style
Happy knitting
